I spent all weekend hibernating and today working and at school, so I haven't much to show for myself yet. I will record some real flute for the bridge (or, if that proves too difficult, something else). I'll also add some upper register vocals to the bridge. Any thoughts or suggestions regarding guitar/synth work I could do? I've been playing around with some little phrases, but I don't have anything recorded yet.

Finally, I'd love to mix this beast, if possible.

i'm in the process of uploading the tracks ken and i recorded. i contacted leaf and he's willing to do the drums so i'm going to create a new drumless mix with a click for him to work off of. for jason, i can create a mix without the keyboard part and he can add as much to where he likes as the current keyboard part is very small. for adam's parts, i can make you a new mix to work off of too. i could take the phase guitar stuff out and you could replace that. or let me know what you'd like to do. flute would be killer. and i can re-do anything, or even drop out my guitar and replace with a mandolin riff or something. but it would be cool to maybe get a blend of all our vox in the swirly harmony bridge part.

ken mentioned wanting to produce this but he hasn't started yet. i have all the tracks and i'm going to get started bouncing down some new mixes. look for IM's from me later.

HEY ALL, COOL SONG!

Funny, first thing I thought of when hearing this was flute. I did a track with a few different parts, none are combined so hopefully you can edit it easily enough. Mostly quiet stuff for backround (all keys), I won't be offended if you cut a lot out. Let me know if you want me to re-do anything.

Bolio: Awesome. I plan on using all of it. I'll probably low-pass and delay the flute to turn it into a lush pad of some sort.

Yo. I'll be trackind drums tonight. Adam, I'm gonna have to email you tracks, cause I don't have the songhole option to post them up! I'll email you tomorrow morning the following: kick, snare, tom1,tom2,tom3, left, right and room mics. They will be .wavs. I'll most likely send you one version of each track as a gated, compressed track, and one totally dry. There will be no reverb... let me know if that works for ya!

If I can. I 'll throw down some backing vox, but I may not get the chance!

leaf: if it's easier for you guys (and you have FTP), i can give you access to my jack shite server and leaf can upload the files there. adam, i could give you access too if that makes things easier for you. let me know if this would help and i can IM you guys the info.

adam should have all the original tracks from ken and i, as well as bolio's keyboard track (which i loved by the way!).

I'll set up an FTP for Leaf's files, but thanks.

One small thing: around the start of the second verse a vibrato-ed synthy sound plays in the left speaker (I'm at work now, so I can't listen to make sure). I don't think I have this wav, if it even exists.

Can't wait to start working on this.

For those that don't know, my grandfather died recently, and on top of school and work I am suddenly helping make funeral arrangements, pall-bearing, etc... so this song won't get the mixing attention it deserves. I originally planned to add all kinds of stuff to it, but that's probably not going to happen now, so I'll keep the mix lean. Leaf and I are also dropping out of adding background vocals; there's just not enough time. I've recorded a [questionable] flute solo for the bridge. I'm having a hard time mixing Ken and Jack's acoustics, so unless I can work some mixing magic I'll be cutting most of Jack's acoustic guitar, as well as Bolio's flute patch (sorry guys).

I'll keep you updated.

hey, whatever works for you adam. if you need to bail out completely, i can pull a late night mixing session if need be. the tune isn't as important as the other stuff going on in your life so just do what you have to do.

LinkageI had a big essay due this morning at 8 (I ended up staying up all night finishing it. Damn), so I didn't put even close to enough time into this mix. I didn't add anything other than flute and some whooshing sounds to cover recording noise. I also didn't have time to A/B the mix with another song, so the bass and other levels might be a little wack. I'm also afraid the vocals jump around in level a bit (not sure why), but maybe I'm just hallucinating.

Sleeeep.

Thanks!

I've never recorded/mixed a flute before. It sounded passable at home, but on the speakers at work the reverb blends the notes together and makes it sound out of time and just generally not good. Everything else stands up though, so I'm happy.

Sounds great guys, love how it goes from the flute solo (great sounding btw) into the last verse. Good job!

HEY ALL
I'd like a shot at writing something for the Bloody Hams. Unemployed now (d'oh) so I have some time to put into it. Let me know if you have time during the next songfight week.
